This is a problem with the 48 bit LBA adressing.

Check out this registry value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Atapi\Parameters

and add following parameter:
Value name: EnableBigLba
Data type: REG_DWORD
Value data: 0x1

If it still doesn't work, your BIOS is not capable of 48 bit LBA adressing.

CRAP! I think my Bios doesn't allow this.
I will probably need to buy a Controler Card.

Thanks!

The drive should have come with software. Did you run that?

If BIOS is only showing the smaller amount than the problem is with your BIOS. Windows XP with SP2 will see the full amount, but the motherboard has to report it.

First, I would check the motherboard manufacturers website for a BIOS flash update, if that doesn't work then check the BIOS manufacturers website for an update.

If those two options don't do anything than you'll have to buy a separate IDE controller card...the good news is they aren't very expensive. I got a RAID controller on E-Bay for less than $20 with shipping.

Peace,
Larry
