How would I go about constructing a rod support system for a gl2?

Steve, this type of project is a little more complicated than most. Its not as easy as a one paragraph answer that will help you to be on your way. Thats probally why no one wants to answer. You need to do a bit more research on your part. And if you can machine your own metal than machine some parts. or if you can, and you dont mind looks, make mounts out of wood with 15mm holes in them. hopefully you take the project serious and start gathering pictures and information of real supports and then work on replicating those.

this might be a good starting point. It doesn't look like 15mm at 60mm o.c. but at $7.50 it might be worth hacking apart and making something out of it. On a related note, anyone know where I can get a bracket for my rods. The cavision ones are $70 for the bracket and the curve t part which seems a bit pricy considering that cinevate/brevis sells one for $55. I can probably make one for less but I want to know if there are any other options before I put the time into it. Thanks!

Just a note on rods. Given that you can buy rods for $150, you will save yourself a lot of trouble just buying them. Building an accurately aligned rod system without a machine shop is next to impossible. I've built a few sets in my well equipped home shop, and even with an expensive floor standing drill press, I'm still not happy with them. That's why the machine shop is now doing all this work using a CNC mill.

Having said that, a homemade set will do the job, but you'll suffer a bit each time you set them up.

I know this has been discussed but I can't find it in the archives. The rods are 15mm spaced 60 mm apart. What is the height from rod center to lens center? Is there a standard for that?

85mm. Depending on what you're hooking up, this measurement may be irrelevant.

Also if it is for MtteBox use, a vertical and horizontal adjustment is a must !!
