Filmed footage on a HVR Z1, in HDV 1080i 50i, using the sony Cineframe25 setting in the picture menu.

Upgraded Premiere Pro 1.5 to Premiere Pro 1.5.1 so I could capture the footage on it using a firewire

When playing back on camera and in the capture preview it plays back fine (and the device control in the capture window work too), but when capturing it won't recognise the in or out points, and when it does capture, it only captures around 7 second then scrambles then stops.

Now I don't know if it is just me being thick with the settings, or if it is because premiere pro 1.5.1 doesn't support the Sony Cineframe setting (I read somewhere that cineform aspect HD is the only thing that does - but have no idea if thats true or just pure nonsense!)

I am so in deep trouble if I can get this off my camera! Has anyone got any advice? Is there anyway I can downgrade it to DVCam in camera even? I'm getting despereate now!

I'm not sure about the compatability of 1.5.1 and cineframe25, Adobe licensed the AspectHD [ a reduced functionality version] codec from Cineform for the HDV functionality in 1.5.1. I'm in the US and purchased and used AspectHD in 1.5.1 and 2.0 and it works great.

So a couple of suggestions, you can download a free evaluation of AspectHD from http://www.cineform.com/ with this you should be able to determine whether your problem is with PPro and Cineframe compatability.

If that fails you can downconvert directly from the camera over firewire and capture SD. If you have to deliver your project soon and are not familiar with all of the challenges associated with encoding from HD to SD, this might not be a bad way to go. If you have a little time to experiment then editing in HD using AspectHD is probably a good idea.
