'recompress' checkbox in export movie

i never bothering changing that checkbox when exporting a movie, in the options (the default is usually recompress checked with 'maintain data rate'), but now i started wondering whether it actually makes a difference or not.

does it???

Uncheck it. With it checked it will recompress everything upon export with a corresponding loss of quality. Unchecked, no recompression will be applied to unmodifed video.

i had no clue, wow, now i feel like restarting my project again, but i'm already 6months into it, lol!!!

im 99% positive that i kept that 'recompress' checked in my most important projects (which also involved multiple rendeering/import procedures..)
