HI

Because of some current soft and hardware limitations, Im looking at doing part of a project this way.

Capture HD Direct to FCP.

If I want to use the files I capture in FCP (to an external drive formatted Mac OS Extended (Journeled)) on a PC, what is the best way to get them over there?

I know it was problematic with DV, where capturing DV in FCP yeilded files that were not "drag and drop easy" to get over to the PC and working in a NLE. Even when I would capture avi they didnt consistantly work on the PC.

Not having worked with this format, I dont know what to expect...any tips?

Will be capturing DVCPRO HD 720p30 on MAC.

Note: This is not strictly for maintiang footage in HD on the PC. Some of the footage will be used in SD timelines as pan and scan material. So Im trying to get up to speed on file handeling in scenerios where A. HD is maintined say in Canopus or using Raylight AND B. when just getting it over to the PC for use in Vegas SD projects.

Also, I have MacDrive + Know how to network cross platform so this is not about file transfer -but is about how the FCP captured media performs when transfered to the PC.

Thanks

I can't comment on PC, but I can a bit with the MAC.
I you are using a powerbook or macbook, it is best to capture to a 7200RPM (or faster) external drive. You will also need to have the camera plugged in a different firewire bus so you will need to get a PCMCIA to firewire adaptor.
