I'm just curious as to what the toal pixel count actually is.... is it the same as the Vari? And the only thing stopping it from looking like Vari footage is the smaller CCD?

The pixel count is rather small. I forget exactly what it is, but you can find it easily on here by doing a search. It has been debated numerous times. The reason I don't remember is because it doesn't really make a difference. The camera does a beautiful job uprezzing the picture ot either a 720P or 1080P picture. If nobody ever told me about the pixel resolution, I wouldn't have notice the difference. The picture looks great.
