If we shoot a long take that exceeds the capacity of the first P2 card and things switch during the take to the second P2 card, will we be able to splice together an uninterrupted clip in post? Will there be a stutter of any sort?
I'm guessing that the second P2 card is likely to start recording before the first card is full ... so there is probably an overlap. Is that right?
And assuming so, to repear: can we splice the two clips together in FCP so there is absolutely no video/audio seam?
Thanks for your time ...

If you have an MXF-aware program, the files will import as one large clip, with no overlap or gap at all. If you are using Raylight to import the files as AVIs, you will have two seperate files -- if you splice them together in your NLE, there will be no gap, however. From what I understand, the time code should also match up between the two files, thought I haven't tested that.

Thanks for your quick response, Cam-RA.
Sounds generally like the the answer is yes -- you can shoot continuously over more than one drive without introducing a gap in post. That's good ...
Unfortunately, though, I don't know what an ''MXF-aware program" is -- nor "Raylight." Could you explain or offer a link so I can learn about what we need to do to get long takes from the camera into Final Cut Pro?
Appreciate it,
Brad

My producer shot his daughters band performance one night. He had one camera and 10 4GB cards. No P2 Store as he had to be pretty inobtrusive. He shot the entire 1.5 hour show on 7 cards.
He then imported them into FCP and sorted them by timecode...which was continuous. Then he married them in the timeline...and didn't lose one frame. Seamless.
