What are the exact settings for 1080/60i footage in FinalCut 5. Right now I have to render when I bring the footage into the timeline (is this normal?).

Use the DVCPRO HD 1080/60i Easy setup. Then trash SEQUENCE 1 as it is set for the original project settings. Create a new project and you should be good to go.
