Damnit, the m2 is now $1300, 2 weeks ago it was only 950! , i guess that 24 article gave them justification to hike it up, ..and I was just about to get one too... i'll wait for the cinemek and compare and figure out who I'm writing my check to,
i remember when the m2 was 850 out the door when it first was introduced

Actually its $550 for the adapter, $90 for a lens mount and $160 for the acromat.
The indie bundle with included mounting rods is $995
If you upgrade to the new HD acromat lens the indie bundle is $1,295.00

Did the new HD acromat just come out ? And how will it fare a better image? Anybody out there test it and compare to the old SD acromat?

The HD achromat came with the new store Friday.
Here is a quote from Brian Valente at the RedRock Forum:
First, we have introduced an HD achromat. It is a 72mm achromat (instead of a 55mm achromat) and is an improvement for HD cameras. This is especially true for the Sony HDV cameras (Z1 and FX1). We spoke to Spot at NAB and he explained the reason for this is that the Sony HDV cameras use some unique compounds in grinding their lenses that creates a much larger sweet spot of the camera's lens than other cameras.
The list price of the HD achromat is $395. An upgrade to the HD achromat is available for existing M2 users at the reduced price of $295. We will be posting details shortly on how to get the upgrade (it's a new order system, so it's taking a little adjustment on our part to get everything squared away).

I ordered an (SD) M2 Indie Bundle on March 23, and am still waiting. The price in March was the same, $995.

wondering the same. is there any visual proof that using a 72mm achromat is better than using a 55mm one? the m2 adapter is still going to be 55mm (at the opposite side of the 35mm lense). so in essence the 55mm end of the m2 wil project on to the 72mm achromat. how is this going to improve the image? additional cost of $300

I would suspect there would be a gain in using the HD achromat over an SD w/ the HVX, larger surface area (?) less vignetting (?) this is all speculative, Brian Valente, please chime in and clean up my techie garble..

I ordered the HD version, but it will be like 4 to 6 weeks until I see it.

why did this thread stop without an answer, I've not used a redrock with the 55mm achromat, so is there a difference? does it have to do with being able to zoom in on the gg?
