View Full Version : Unexplained Weirdness on my P2 backups

I am using Anders "p2 Genie" (current beta) to backup P2 cards and P2Stores on a 15" 1.67 ghz PowerPC G4 Powerbook. I am backing up the p2s to G-Tech Firewire GRaid 200 gig drives. Every so often (often enough to freak me out) if I look at the Graid drive in the OS X Finder, the "Date Modified" on one or more of the P2 backups reads Dec 31, 1979, 11:00 PM.
Does Anyone Have any Idea what could be causing this?
Thanks,
John

Oddly enough, 1979 is the founding year for the Macintosh group. I know sometimes when your PRAM battery runs out and you lose your PRAM settings, your internal cpu clock will sometimes revert to 1970 (OSX) or 1904 in OS9 and show all subsequent files as being created/modified on that date. Haven't heard of 1979 though.
I'm not sure why it would be intermittent. You could try zapping your PRAM and see if that clears it up. I would also advise repairing permissions and to also leave your Mac on at night or use one of the many UNIX maintainence scripts like Cocktail or MacJanitor. (UNIX wants you to keep your computer on late at nite...between 3:15
and 5:30 AM to perform these clean up scripts..why Mac hasn't made this a regular procedure at startup...don't know).
Anyway, here's a good site to look at if you are unfamiliar with the above. If you've kept your Mac off/sleeping through the early morning hours, perhaps it might be the problem.
