P2 import problem

Hi all,

Tried to import some test P2 footage into my Apple G5 using the camera as a firewire device. I'm following the steps in the Apple white paper. Problem: when I try to copy the clips into a folder on my desktop, I get the following message:

"The operation cannot be completed because the item "lastclip.txt" is locked"

There's probably a real simple answer for this but I couldn't find any similar problems using the forum search. Any help you guys can give is appreciated.

Technical section right? Do you have a suggestion for a solution to the problem? If not, there's really no need to post anything.

I didn't know that the DVX had the ability to capture to P2, so I assumed this was an HVX question, in which case my solution would be to move your thread to the HVX Technical section rather than the the DVX Technical section.

You're right there is a thread that was moved from the DVX100 Technical forum with the same name.

Hi jp,

Am not sure of your question. Are you trying to transfer the files orimport via 1394 as if the camera were a VTR? I have never seen that message come up. You should first move the Contents folder to the HDD, then import P2. Or if you want to playback the material, you need to set the camera up to do so.

Hi Jan,

Yes, I had the camera connected to my mac via 1394 firewire, two icons showed up on the desktop (representing the 2 P2's) and I tried dragging their contents to a new folder I had created, that's when I got the message.

This was following the steps from the Apple whitepaper "workflow for Final Cut Pro and the Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera.

But I'll try your suggestion and drag the contents to my HD drive and see if that works.
