Hi, i am first poster..
Question: I shoot some footage 720P/60 and then put the p2 card to my g4, then transfer the mxf files to disk /drag&drop/. After that I move these files to my G5 and try to import it to FCP5. But it gives me an error message. How can I import mxf files into FCP5 on another machine? Please help me people, I am getting sick..... thanx... maybe I forget something simple.... thanx

What version of FCP are you using? When you go to the import pull-down menu, is there a separate choice that says Panasonic P2? If so, what is the error message that you're getting?

Hi, guys
I having problem importing anything /720P/50/25/ from P2 cards into FCP 5.04.
1.
When I put my P2 card in my G4 and Import Panasonic P2 I see the content of the card but after I got "One or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupted clips".
2.
When I copy the entire content of the card /including LASTCLIP.TXT/ to my HDD and then try to import it under MXF Import, I can select the MXF file, I can hit the Import button, it asks me for path to store the converted file, I choose the path, hit the Open button and it gives me "Error ID: -19443".
3. When I set the PC mode for 1394 HOST in Other functions menu as the operating manual says for copying data from P2 card inside the camera I can see mounting volume with all the content of the card but when I try to import it it gives me the same shit errors....
Please, if enybody knows what to do let me know, because I shoot myself...
maybe I am missing something very simple... or the card is corrupted? I dont think so, because I can play the clips in the camera...
Thanx lot for anything...

Do a search in the forum, the PAL frame rates are not supported from any NLE right now except firewire streaming 1080i25p, there's only the raylight (PC only) software which works as an intermediary for mxf pal formats you can the load the files in any NLE but it's terribly slow.
I too have the PAL HVX but will not buy P2 cards until there's proper support. I've rested my hopes in Edius and FCP. We will eventually get something....

Real time 720p25 is too slow?

I am on a PC, I just make the drive/directory a shared one, that way I can move, import, delete them as needed. Before doing this, sometimes the files would not transfer, open play etc.
