did you copy the entire CONTENTS folder from the P2 card, along with the LASTCLIP.TXT file? you need both of those in order to import the copied card files into final cut. you also have to be using at least final cut 5.04 or higher.
i usually import the files directly into final cut from the P2, then make a backup copy of the P2 card contents, and a backup of the final cut imported .mov's.
hope that helps.

Hi, guys
I having problem importing anything /720P/50/25/ from P2 cards into FCP 5.04.
1.
When I put my P2 card in my G4 and Import Panasonic P2 I see the content of the card but after I got "One or more P2 clips failed to import; probable incomplete or corrupted clips".
2.
When I copy the entire content of the card /including LASTCLIP.TXT/ to my HDD and then try to import it under MXF Import, I can select the MXF file, I can hit the Import button, it asks me for path to store the converted file, I choose the path, hit the Open button and it gives me "Error ID: -19443".
3. When I set the PC mode for 1394 HOST in Other functions menu as the operating manual says for copying data from P2 card inside the camera I can see mounting volume with all the content of the card but when I try to import it it gives me the same shi* errors....
Please, if enybody knows what to do let me know, because I shoot myself...
maybe I am missing something very simple... or the card is corrupted? I dont think so, because I can play the clips in the camera...
Thanx lot for anything...

oh... final cut pro doesn't support 720p 50 or 25... that's the problem. if it was 720p24, it would import right in.
i just had this problem when i rented an HVX in the UK for one shoot at 720p25, and then tried to import it. it won't work. hopefully this will be fixed in the next version of final cut....
what i ended up doing was having a friend with a PC editing program import the clips and output them as wmv files. then i used the flip4mac importing program to bring the wmv's into FCP. so if you can get someone to output those mxf files as wmv's, you can bring them in to final cut. otherwise, you'll have to wait till the new version i guess?
good luck.

Are you trying to import 1080/30p or 1080/24p clips?

Well, that should certainly work... can I ask you to double-check if you're using 5.0.4? I know they won't import on 5.0, but 5.0.4 should easily quaff them.

I figured it out! As usual it was something really small, but a good thing to know. When naming the P2 card there was a "#" in the title, for example:P2 #1....this screwed the import up and made an error read "one or more P2 clips failed to import, probable incomplete or corrupt clips" ...good to know, of course I feel really silly now. Thanks for taking the time Barry.:) - dm

Wow, thanks for sharing that -- we'll have to make a note of that for future users! I hadn't tried that; I've renamed my cards before, but never with special characters so I hadn't run into that. Appreciate you taking the time to come back and clarify!
