I am trying to film in 30p and then play it in a 24 p timeline and slow the footage to 80% for frame for frame slow but it just copies every fifth frame so it is duplicated. is there a special way you need to capture the 30p footage or any project settings I have overlooked.
please help:kali:

This is probably not the most efficient way for what you're doing, but I used it on another project cause I had to make additional modifications to the footage.
I took the captured AVI into After Effects and exported as a series of numbered stills, which I then brought into Premiere.
I was modifying the clips in AE though. It should work the way you're describing, just by slowing the footage down. Make sure that the clip is being interpreted correctly (as a 30p clip, not a 24p clip)... maybe also do a test in a 30P project and make sure you're getting 30 full frames. In general, the project that you capture in should not effect the captured file.

Don't change the speed of your 30p clip. Just Interpret Footage and change it to 24 (or 23.976)fps. Then it'll play back perfectly at 80%. I think.

thank you very much can scanner you are correct all i need to do is interpret the 30p footage as 24fps footage and voila, it is slightly slower on the 24p timeline, frame for frame.

is that the correct procedure even when shooting at 60i (or 50i in PAL) to get a smooth 30p (25p) slow-motion?
