Just wanted to whine for a moment and shed a tear or two. Just found out a play I'm directing that was supposed to open next week has been cancelled :( Also, just got nailed with a huge medical bill that won't allow me to pay my UCLA tuition for the advanced writing program :( Also, just lost a writing assignment to a total hack, which was paying 15k :(
This has all happened over the last day, I'm friggin bummed out.
On a good note I have a meeting tonight with a producer who wants to hire me to write a treatment (WGA minimum) so all hope is not lost. I also just finished the first draft of a script with my writing partner that's been requested by UTA, again, things are okay...but I'm still pissed, sad and a total emotional wreck.
Thanks for listening.

Man, it sure sounds like ups and downs, but you certainly got some ups in there! You've got a lot going on, and when you do, some things will always be having problems while others go well. It's like the old Chinese curse: "may you lead an interesting life." But, of course, some of us would choose interesting, with all its dramatic tension, over "pleasant" any day. Well, most days.
So, spend some time pissed, wishing for pleasant, but tonight you'll be back in interesting... and it'll be good. 'Cause, you've got a lot going on!

Thanks for the support guys. I'm feeling a little better as the day progresses. I knew what 'deals' in Hollywood had in store for me when I moved up here last year, so fortunately I'm rolling with the punches, but sometimes it's just tough to swallow considering all the hard work you put in. Anyway, thanks for listening.

oh man, that's hard. Keep your head up buddy, it's only a bump in the road. The best is yet to come, just believe.

A lot of strikes can add up like that in a short time -- sorry man.
Two thoughts for you.
1) I would kill for a gig writting a treatment with WGA mimium pay.
2) "advanced writing program"? is that one of the UCLA Professionals Programs? If so you can get a career training loan from SLM (a Sallie Mae Company)
http://www.salliemae.com/apply/borrowing/career_training.html
that's how I'm paying for my UCLA Professionals Program Screenwriting course.
Good luck, you have a lot goung for you and you'll land on your feet I'm sure

Sorry about the hard knocks, Alvarez. Just remember the words of The Who:
Just Another Tricky Day for You
You can't always get it
When you really want it
You can't always get it at all
Just because there's space
In your life it's a waste
To spend your time why don't you wait for the call?
Just gotta get used to it
We all get it in the end
Just gotta get used to it
We go down and we come up again
Just gotta get used to it
You irritate me my friend
This is no social crisis
This is you havin' fun
No crisis
Gettin' burned by the sun
This is true
This is no social crisis
Just another tricky day for you
You can't always get higher
Just because you aspire
You could expire even knowin'
Don't push the hands
Just hang on to the band
And you can dance while your knowledge is growing
It could happen anytime
You can't expect to never cry
Patience is priceless
Not when you try to fly so high
Just stay on that line
Rock'n roll will never die
This is no social crisis
This is you havin' fun
No crisis
Gettin' burned by the sun
This is true
This is no social crisis
Just another tricky day for you
Another tricky day
Another gently nagging pain
What the papers say
Just seems to bring down heavier rain
The world seems in a spiral
Life seems such a worthless title
But break out and start a fire y'all
It's all here on the vinyl
No crisis
Just you havin' fun
There's no crisis
Gettin' burned by the sun
Got no crisis, this is true
This is no social crisis
Just another tricky day for you
You can't always get it
When you really want it
You can't always get it at all
Just because there's space
In your life it's a waste
To spend your time why don't you wait for the call?
Just gotta get used to it
Gotta get used to waiting
Just gotta get used to it
You know how the ice is
Just gotta get used to it
It's thin where you're skating
This is no social crisis
This is you havin' fun
No crisis
Gettin' burned by the sun
This is true
This is no social crisis
Just another tricky day for you
Fella
Just another tricky day
For you
Just another tricky day
For you
Just another tricky day
Just another tricky day
For you
You'll get through

Talk about a change of events. I nailed the meeting tonight and landed the treatment (WGA min.) gig !!! :)
Back in the saddle my friends. I gotta say, everyones kind words definately helped me stay possitive today and helped during the meeting. I could have easily walked in depressed, but I shook it all off and went in with a good attitude. Thanks!!!
