DVXuser and Abel Cine Tech are having a party Monday night at the Mirage in Vegas.

Everyone is welcome, and the first 100 guests will receive a free custom DVXuser / Abel tshirt.

Time : 7:00pm Monday and

Location: Mirage Hotel Las Vegas, Tower Suites

I'm staying at the Las Vegas Hilton, arriving Sunday afternoon, staying through Wednesday night. Anyone else here staying there? Luckily, there's a monorail stop at the Hilton. I think the closest monorail stop to the Mirage is at the Imperial Palace station. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

We'll be jockying a taxi everywhere we go. We got one of the last hotel rooms in the city (or so I was told by the clerk.) It's too much of a trek from the hotel to the convention, or Mirage for that matter.

Cabs are CRAZY expensive right now. I was driving downtown and a cab pulled up next to me, and they have the rates printed on their doors. It's basically $3.25 just to get in, and then it's $2.00 PER MILE. That's wacky. Figure on torching $20 to $40 anytime you go anywhere.

That said, they have free shuttle buses to/from the convention center from many of the big hotels...

even better.. the new skytrain kicks ass. it takes you the whole strip and drops you at the convention center. Fast, cheap and cheap.

It's kind of overwhelming... the enormity of the place in general... just hit all the places you KNOW you want to... then scope out the stuff you just noticed when you got there...

lol. First time to NAB, not Vegas. I was taught proper prostitute etiquette in the Navy. You should have seen the STD videos they showed us before pulling into Thailand and the Philippines. I never intended on messing with any of that anyway, but some of the pictures in those videos still haunt me to this day.

It was pretty unreal meeting everybody. I got into the room, and I didn't know anybody, but I did know them. Very weird.

Everyone was very cool, met some people, talked some shop, circulated the shirt. Good times.

Hey, I shot some footage of the party on Monday night. I was only there for a few hours, then my buddy and I walked to some of the sites in Vegas (there were a lot of the hotels and stuff I wanted to check out). Anyways, I'll try to get that footage edited in a nice montage or something! :)

Hey guys I just made it back to the office. What a wild party Mon. but I'm glad Tues. got cancelled. I met some other disapointed dvxusers ( hey dc and tyler) then our group found a couple from the night before. Then we migrated over to the KOA at Circus Circus and got to talk to an industry insider in his motor coach about a couple of projects he's working on ( totally Cool ) and then found ourselves at the top of the stratosphere doing a low light test on a 300.00 camcorder. What a blast I love this fourm.

It was actually a great little get-together though. How many were there? 50? A hundred (counting everyone who left and those who arrived late?) Elvis and Mark Mapes from Serious Magic and Ron from Abel and Rush and Jarred and Evin and Jan Crittenden and Tim Ovel from indiFocus and TC and DC and Briceman and Maurice Jolley and all sorts of people showed up, it was great!

One night makes more sense than two though!

No, all axis are done on location in camera XY and Z, with servos and controllers.

Rene's software/camera system is really quite amazing. Some of the timelapse shots he showed are unlike any timelapse I've ever seen before. Good stuff!
