I prefer to archive everything using the original recording media rather than using re-writable media for recording. Therefore the cost of the media can soon add up - especially when using high-bandwidth formats like low-compression HD or higher resolutions.
I noticed that Red may support Blu-Ray as a recording format, but there has been no mention of possible HD-DVD support. HD-DVD appears to cost a considerable amount less than Blu-Ray will do - e.g. the cost per GB. I would really like to see support for recording to HD-DVD if possible :)
