Is Windows Movie Maker suitable to edit a feature length film???????
Could it get the job done.????? And what are some other cheap editing programs that will get the job done.

No. Completely inadequate.
For low-cost editing applications, try Pinnacle Studio 10 or Vegas Movie Studio.

Pinnacle.. hisss....
Also in that same group is Adobe Premiere Elements. More powerfull then the full version of Premiere 6.5 just 3 years ago, for $89 today. :)

While I agree with you about Pinnacle in general, Studio is a good low-cost app.

honestly you probably could use Movie Maker to edit a feature, but i don't know the timeline limit. another thing how much data can the timeline store? for instance premiere 6.5 can hold 1 terabyte of data. pretty sure that surpasses moviemaker. what kind of effects/transitions are available in moviemaker? not many compared to even the lower end NLEs.
point being yes you can drop clips and put them together to make a video feature, but you in now way have the power of a real NLE.

NLe's have data caps?
how the hell woudl you edit HD then? couldnt a terabyte be like 2 - 3 hours of DVCpro100?

timur...
it says in the premiere manual (6.5) that the timeline can hold 1 terabyte of data. might want to check the specs of other NLEs.

While on the subject of cheap editing systems... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
What are the limitations of editing a 24p camera like a DVX100 using iMovie? Would the film-like look still transfer after an exported viewing?

Editing a feature on Movie Maker would be like driving from Miami to Seattle in a golf cart.
Yes, it's possible . . . but why would you do so? :)
