For my final in a film/video editing class at school, we had to create a music video for a favorite song of ours. I took Run by Snow Patrol and shot a video for that. The film was shot with a Panasonic HVX200 using a variety of shutter and frame speeds.

The video was shot over a weekend and was edited in 3 days.
This was my first time shooting any footage with the HVX and overall it went rather well. We didn't have as much grain as I expected in the low light shots, so I'd say overall I'm happy with the final product.

Comments? Advice?

Nice one, good effort! I think it would have benefitted from some more movement during the chorus (camera movement, lightning from a storm outside, whatever), the image and soundtrack seems to diverge at this point (as in "do those still belong together?")

The chorus scenes (with the guy in the dark room) are also pretty boring (both visually and story-wise). You might have wanted to intercut these scenes with new material of the two in love or something.

btw: youtube and hvx... eek!

Great start, would be interesting to see your next project :-)
Cheers!

Youtube frakked up the compression. Can you reupload somewhere else?

I liked it. Maybe some shots of her without the boyfriend i.e. her at work, her at school, cheer practice, jello wrestling, also might be cool to have some shots of him interacting with her in everyday life. He helps her at the gas station, or serves her in the lunch room. A little more angst and regection, or the other way, she is with her boyfriend and making eyes at him. Maybe start it off with a messy break up scene between the two of them.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your comments. I know YouTube sucks but until I can get my own webspace (hopefully soon), I'm gonna have to mooch off of them. I would have liked to have spent a little more time planning out the project so I could have shown the angst a little more but we just ran out of time. I also didn't have the time to storyboard out the entire film so its a little weak IMO.

On the bright side, I did get a sunburn out of the shoot though :-)

And believe me guys I was totally for the white-t-shirt thing, unfortunately didn't end up working out that way. (Though imagine the grade I could have gotten if it had :-( )
