4.5 won't work, you have to upgrade to at least 5.0 for standard-def, and 5.0.4 for high def.

Damn. You get your software upgrade and you'll be ahead of my G5, alb. Until you start cutting, anyways ;)

Actually you can capture now using non-controllable devise in FCP 4.5.

Nice.
Anyway you can use "import P2" under 10.3.9 as well. You just need to manually add a path specifiying P2 volumes as they don't show up immediately

What is a non-controllable devise in FCP 4.5?
Is it possible to capture from the P2 with FCP 4.5 without any additional plug-ins?
Or is a total upgrade necessary?
Many thanks....

There is the HD LOG by Imagine Products at www.imagineproducts.com. They have made it into a P2 viewer:
http://www.imagineproducts.com/hdlog.htm
You can use this to view and export the footage as a QT file. $600.
Download the demo and check it out and make sure it will work. If so, then you might be good to go. if not, then you need to upgrade to FCP 5.0.4.
