I am about to buy the HVX200 but I want to wait to buy the P2 Storage dive unti they get one bigger than 60 gig. In the meantime, would I simply be able to pop my p2 cards straight into my 3 year old 17 inch powerbook G4? Any mac users out there that could help me out?

Yes, you can.

It doesn't seem to work directly into the PCMCIA slot. I can read them via firewire through the camera and USB through the P2 Store.

I get nothing to mount when i slide them directly into the slot on a G4 PB.

any thoughts?

You need the P2 driver software from Panasonic.

And that is available for download from here:

Thanks all. Got it and it works like a charm. Funny that despite Panasonic and Apple's sort of "dating affair" the cards work better in the windos world. Bring on the MacTells, eh!
