I've been using the Canopus demo for a while now, and it seems to be the best solution for the HVX.

The only thing that bugs me right now are the output formats.... wmv and quicktime.

I like the wmv color... it is faithful to the original footage. The quicktime outs tend to be brighter and more washed out. The sound plays fine. I can output 24fps.

The wmv, for some odd reason, can only be output at 30fps (29.etc) or at 25fps. The footage I shot of a train pulling into a station tends to look jerky and stuttery. I'm also having trouble with sound... it sounds horrible (stuttery).

Original footage is 720p 24fps.

Any thoughts or advice on this?

Is quicktime the preferred format for output?

If you use ProCoder Express for EDIUS, you should be able to adjust the framerate of the WMV output. Click the Advanced Output Settings button just because the conversion page.

Thanks, Brandon.

I avoided the generic wmv for the reason I thought if it didn't have "HD" written on it, then it ain't HD.

Hoo boy, I'm typo-freak these days...

As you figured, I meant "just before" and not "just because" the conversion page, heh.

The generic targets in PCE are the most flexible, although least-user-friendly, options. They'll let you change the parameters to whatever you might need.

Bhiga:

You've been a terrific help.

The generic targets (wmv) seem to require that I change the parameters every time I do output, or make me select the history target (I have to remember the date).

If you could have the software guys to include 24 fps in the HD section, it would be less of a hassle and a lot faster for outputting.

Or better still, a super "macro" button that remembers all the user definable parameters, instead of slogging through several menus before output.

So far, Edius has been terrific to work with.

Thank you

The super "macro" button is what the full ProCoder2 can do - you can save custom presets.:)

You can change most of the options for the preset settings in the Wizard, though. So if you start with HD | Windows Media | 720/29.97p (or 720/25p) then you'd just need to adjust the birate and the framerate, instead of having to define everything.
