This weekend I decided to update my avatar to something RED related, in honor of NAB 2006 and, IMO, the most exciting thing going on at this show... while building some elements for this image, I got a little carried away with the whole process and ended up with something I can only describe as "fan art".

And before you laugh, I heard of a guy who got the Lightwave logo tattooed on his arm, this little project was way, way below that level of commitment... :)

So, Jim J., if you're reading this, is that going to be printed out onto posterboard for the booth? I think Jim A. did a great job!
Nice work Jim!

Thanks Jack for the nice words, but this is just true "fan art", for giggles and grins (it DOES look nifty at poster rez... though like you, I can't wait to see the real deal at the show...

The big circle with the red ring gave me an idea. Maybe all RED lenses should be solid black with a red ring around the front element just under the filter threading.
I like your fan art.

Well, I wouldn't say I'm good at it... but I do a fair bit for my clients and they keep paying me, so...
It didn't take long, as I had a rough idea in mind when I started pusing the text around for my avatar. I sort of got it roughed out to what you see in between fixing the sprinkler system in the back yard yesterday. It's fully rigged for animation, etc. but there's still work I'd do to polish it up. And remember, this isn't at the direction of a "client" for their specific needs, just me goofing around with what looked cool at the time.
Regards, and thanks all!

Thanks again guys... I appreciate all the feedback! The logo is "animation ready" for what it's worth, just the nature of the tools I used to make it.
Can't wait to see what they've come up with at NAB... going to be there on the 26th... I want to look at the Marshall monitor in person, see Edius in action, play with the Cartoni Focus, check out some Miller carbon sticks, and of course pay a visit to the RED booth.
Any accessories I'm entertaining for the HVX I'm also looking at from the point of view of their use with a camera such as the RED would be. Even if RED itself isn't large, the 35mm lens system and all will require a fair bit of support.
See you all there!
