I have enjoyed the 30 trial of Edius Broadcast and was ready to plunk down my cash. Then I started wondering if I shouldn't wait to see if there is a version 4 about to be delivered because I did not want to get caught having to pony up another 500 bucks shortly after my initial purchase. Most manufacturers are pretty reasonable in this regard but I'd hate to have to face this on the 91st day if the "free upgrade' (or whatever) was only a 90 day window--which is not uncommon. Anyhow, I e-mailed Canopus and this is the reply I received:

"Sorry that I couldn't get back to you yesterday. For the time being hold off. I don't know what the exact upgrade procedure / rules are going to be yet and I don't want you to get stuck in the middle at all. I know that our marketing department is going to send out an e-mail blast to everybody who's registered, you included, when the "rules" are announced. I can't say for certain, but looking at past years this will probably come the first day of NAB."

Maybe there will be other NLE surprises at NAB. I still think I am going to go with Broadcast . . . come on NAB . . . CAN HARDLY WAIT!

Our guys are pretty reasonable, as long as you ask nicely. :)

Good choice in awaiting the NAB. See whats there. and I'm sure if you are not blown away with the smoke and mirrows you will see the light,

Yes: I started with Edius 3.0 last year and have had upgrade's at no charge. I have FCP2, and Adobe 6.0 the upgrade cost me $$$$$$$. I have enjoyed the Canopus Edius for a year with free upgrades, Except the Broadcast when I purchased the HVX 200. If and when they come with the next upgrade, I will fork over the $$$$$.
