Yes, you can enter...as long as you pay each of the other entrants a $10 entry fee

Just kidding.....as long as you have a 5 minute film, shot in 24p on a DVX100(a/b) or HVX200 on May 30th when Jarred opens the upload link you will be fine.

You will, however, need 100 posts by that time in order to vote.

Peace,
Larry

Please don't run up your posts with junk trying to get to 100 because you'll just make us mad and I'll drop your ballot in the bit bucket. :)

yep no one is entered yet, those lists are just for fun.

You could never post here. Never say anything to anyone. Shoot your film on 5/28, edit it on 5/29, and upload it on 5/30.

You'd have to join at least so they'd have a username to atrribute the film to, but that's it.

I don't know...that's a question for Barry S and/or Jarred. Here's the official rules thread: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=49497, perhaps the 25p has been discussed there.

it was dicussed in one of the scifi threads -- see if you can find it -- but it come down
as a hard 24p or 24pA rule -- reason being that he will make a DVD and your film could potentially be on it.

It would be cool if 25p was OK for the web, but he doesn't want to get it in a situation where, if the the 25p film places and will therefore be included in teh DVD, that he can't get it on there.

It kinda sucks but you will have to use a standards conversion or somehow convert in your NLE -- there must be threads discussing this somewhere.

I do thing the PAL people should get an extra 5 or 6 seconds because when you slow your 25p down to 24p that'sa bouty how much extra time you gain.

That's a very interesting point. I never thought about that.

I woulda never either but someguy was bemoning the fact in scifi that after slaving over his film to get it under the time limit, it now needed an additional 6 seconds lopped off afer converting to 24p.

Hmm OK. This sounds like it sucks but can someone help me here as I feel there is an easyway around it.

I use FCP. After reading JDS' reply I instantly I thought, "Man I have to render the movie out as 24p and so I'm going to get frame interpolation etc" But then I thought, hey, if I can just render it so it's set to playback at 24fps, then I'll get a little bit of a slow down which should be fine and if I adjust my audio pitch a little then I'm OK.

Is this correct thinking? And if so, can anyone tell me how I can get FCP to do this? I'm new to FCP having switched from Vegas.

I think so ... I think that's the opposite of the way movies are shown on TV in PAL conutries, with a 4% spead up ... but like I said, search 25p in the scifest subforum and you will find out how other PALlies dealt with this.

Will do thanks. Too bad 25p is too small for a search ;) have to do by hand.

Cheers
