Holly crap this program rocks! One question though. I want to shoot HD gigs for potential clients but since I really never plan on posting anything in HD myself, can I use just EDIUS Pro 3 and at least take advantage of all the shooting formats the HVX offers? I know the trial I can use footage I've shot in 720pn at spit it out onto a dvd. Can I do that with the full version or do I have to get Broadcast?
Thanks
Steve

No, you can't do anything with HVX footage unless you get the Broadcast version.

Barry:
When I'm exporting to wmv with Edius the demo, I notice there's only 720p 25fps pal and 720p 30fps ntsc (the others being 1080i).
I'm shooting 720p 24fps, but there's no coverting to wmv 720p 24fps ntsc.
Is this a limitation of the demo? Perhaps the real version has 24 fps.
If that's the case, should I choose 25 fps over 30 fps?

Hi Steve,
You have two choices - and only one makes sense...
a) Get EDIUS Pro 3 + P2 Format support module + Canopus Codec Option
The total price of this far exceeds EDIUS Broadcast.
b) Get EDIUS Broadcast and have everything you need, plus some extra goodies you might use down the road. All for cheaper than them all separately!

Thanks bhiga for your input. Seems sad I need to spend a G on somthing I will use for a couple of shots for a reel. That money seems better spent on more cards or a Marshall monitor.
Thanks again
Steve

Well, if this is a one-off thing, then you might want to ask someone to do the capture and transcode the footage to a format you can use, but if you expect to be doing this often, then it'll be a good investment.

Thanks Brandon. By the way, does broadcast have RGB parade scopes like avid does?
