To reap the benefit of others' unquestionably superior experience, I hope to hear more about this camera for feature film work, in comparison to the HVX or Vericam. Projection/blowup quality is one parameter, but also it's look on DVD or tape formats. -- Thanks for your input. There are some very knowledgeable folks using this forum.

Put frankly, it is the best SD camera out there (with a good lens). Anything else I might say has to be experienced, so why not do your own comparison.

SDX900 is used for tons of stuff of varying genres and types. It's the last step of SD before entering HD land. Use it if you want, it won't let you down for anything.

The SDX900 may be great for noise, but what I have seen from compressed footage on the web (a professionally shot film) I would never pay those 30 grand.

I think the camera is pretty great. I would agree with Rextilleon in the assessment of it as a SD camera, but also with Rex as to the fact that it depends on what glass you have on in front of it. Check out my homepage and look at Skels and Arena for SDX examples

I just screened Skels in a 400 seat theater using a 10,000 Lumen projector to an image size of about 30 feet in length. I was impressed with the resulting image as it did not breakdown and fall apart in the wides like MiniDV does. If I had the choice for theatrical presentation - I would still go HD. Varricam, Cinealta....etc...Genesis....drool

Send a PM to NoahK; he did a feature on it, which just got written about in American Cinematographer.
