:furious3:
Unbelievable, someone has written a virus that attacks the HVX-200 camera. As many of you know the camera uses the Linux operating system, which is resistance, but not immune to virus attacks. It appears that someone has found "the back door" to the HVX-200!!!
Here's how the virus works and is passed.
STEP 1: By using video forums, the virus asks users to read a horrible virus warning message about a new virus for the HVX-200.
STEP 2: This warning asks all users to randomly delete 3 video clips from your P2 card at your next shoot.
STEP 3: Please delete 3 random video clips from your P2 card at your next shoot.
STEP 4: The warning asks all users to make a copy of this message and post it so that other users will be infected.
STEP 5: Please post a copy of this message so that other users will be infected. Remember this virus is on the honor system, without your help, it can't be passed. Thanks.
STEP 6: Have a happy April Fools Day... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

That does it for me! I'm not buying an HVX200. I think I'll just find a good used first generation VX1000 on ebay.
Thanks Bob for the heads up.

You soooooo got me. hahahahaha! I saw the thread title and said, "Oh, c'mmon." When I saw it was Bob I sat up in my chair and said, "Woah, I better see what's going on . . . dratt! My HVX has been connected and online for hours at a time! ARGHHGHG."
I began reading and got very confused until half-way, I started picking up on it.
My hat is off, and my respect for you has grown!

Sorry to say, no.
During the El Camino College semesters, I work on Saturdays, but April 8 is spring break. Given that I get a day off, you would think I'd be free, BUT that is the only shot I have until the summer (or at least until mid-June) I can be free to see my sister and her side of the family.

Heh. You inspired me, Bob--I got Briceman over at Isara.com, and made some money for the chaps in Thailand.

What do ya teach over at ElCo?
I work in the Industry & Technology Division, in the Electronics & Computer Hardware Technology Department. I also teach a class in the Manufacturing Technology "Department" which is the Electronics ... and Machine Tool Departments working together.
The classes I teach are: Basic Robotics, Introduction to Electronics, Radio Communications, Network & Telecommunications, Microprocessors, and Advanced Robotics & Industrial Control. I don't teach every class every semester, but the Basic Robotics is tauight every semester and the other classes are on a rotating bases.
OTHER STUFF:
You will also find me helping with TARA (Torrance Amateur Radio Association) which provides emergency communications using Ham Radio to help the Torrance Police Department should they need us.

I'm also a member of the Southern California Live Steamers. A train club that has trains 1/8 the size of the real thing and yes, it's big enough to ride. We give free rides to the public once a month.

We love you Bob :)
Hey, bob, these trains are great for some action movie shoots! I imagine you already did some experiments with derailing accidents or "barbie doll in distress" shots!

I'm the last person you would send the resume to. It's best to check out the El Camino's Web Pages for the latest job openings and who to contact:

I've never did the "doll in distress" shots, but I did take a camera and hold it at wheel level, about 3 inches from the ground. VERY cool looking. Also, being a club member I could take shots from a car connected to the front of the train, in front of the engine and looking to the rear of the train; also very cool looking.
These trains make for both interesting and fun video to shoot. This is NOT limited to just the LA area or Southern California; you will find these train clubs all over. (See Community --> Clubs) The links below are listed below.
