Storage to HDCAM

Just a question about final storing of HVX footage. Our production company uses only Sony post equipment so far, I was wondering about the transfer/output of HVX footage in 720p/Vatiable frame rate footage.

If you are archiving footage to HDCAM, will you be able to keep the 720p format? Or
will you have to convert you shots to 1080i and then transfer to tape? Will you lose the feel of the 720p footage?

HDCAM doesn't support 720p. If you're dubbing to HDCAM you'll be converting to 1080i. It won't lose the "feel", but it will change the format.
