OK, hopefully somebody here can help because I'd rather not have to go register at the Trapcode forums and wait for a response...

I'm working on a particle animation using Particular and I wanted to know if anybody knows how to make the particles start at the first frame of your comp. Basically, I have a stream of particles, but I don't want them to start from nothing then build into the full stream. I want the full stream to be present from the start, and it stay constant throughout the shot.

I know there are a few workarounds by pre-composing and using time remapping, but I'd rather not do so if I don't have to.

Thanks for the help!

Click on the Options button in the effect window and set the Pre-Run to 20% or something like that...this makes the particles start at the first frame rather than ramp up once the animation starts.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home...I totally forgot about the Options in that plug!

Doh!

Couldn't you also just have nested/precomposed the particle layers and drug them backwards?

That's a good point too, but that would reverse my problem. It's a 250 frame shot and it's needs to be constantly flowing.

Ahhh. I get it. What if you made your composition 300 frames long, and made the particle layer 300 frames long, hit ALT+End to snap everything except the particle layer to the end point and then at frame 50, hit B to start your workspace, would that do it?

EDIT:

You know what, even if that would work, that silly workaround considering you can just adjust one parameter. Ignore the above post.

I dunno where my brain is today. Please imagine my head is the computer in this Gif:
