Swap out the 1/3" chips with 2/3", and lose the lens to let us make them interchangeable...
Still should come in at around 6k, the loss of lens balances out the more expensive chips...(plus a few dsp and other upgrades, yes...) Okay 7k. Then you can buy your own lens anywhere from 500 bucks to 30k....
Eliminates most of the low light and noise issues...
This really doesn't seem so impossible...

I admit, I was being unrealistic. I'll probably pick up an HVX at NAB...
Until I see Red, that is.

Don't forget to make it shoulder-mountable. My arms are already tired. All improvements aside, I love my HVX. Oh, and while we are dreaming, can we make it uncompressed 4:4:4 color?

Don't forget the prism block would have to larger for 2/3" CCDs. Hence, big bucks.
Oh and guess what else... The prism block moves to and fro when you focus and zoom to accommodate for back focus issues so a interchangeable lens would create focus problems.

I bet non-movable prism for 2/3" is cheaper than movable prism for 1/3".
2/3" chips might be ten times more expensive though...
