I've never seen that error except when trying to import to 5.0, so that's why I said use 5.0.4...

So yeah I downloaded the update like a few weeks ago and just double checked that it I had the right one and its 5.04. SO i dunno whats going on something funky. I pulled the cards contents over to the HDD and then imported them into FCP that wya nd they worked fine, just a little concerned I may have a bad P2 card or something.

I am running the newest version...and ALL my folders imported just fine.....save one. And I'm getting the same damn error not P2 as well. Sad thing, its on the hard drive...the P2 was wiped on set to be reused...All the files are in the folders, too.

Something must have happened during the transfer to HD...but I'm wondering if it's salvagable or I'm just SOL...

Not the exact same issue but I recently was traveling and was offloading P2 cards directly to the USB OTG drive. IT worked flawlessly for the first 10-12 transfers. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. I don;t know why. It would begin the transfer and the lights on both the drive and the HVX would be blinking (normal for this process)....then just a few seconds into this the HVX would stop blinking and the hard drive would keep blinking. I waited an hours and it never finished. I tried 7-8 times and it never worked. I have an 80 gig drive and I knw only about 40 gig was used. Still don;t know what the problem was but it makes me nervous. I have to do some more testing to see if I can figure why this happened. My first concern is that is a file on the P2 card was corrupt or had a bad bit on it...maybe that could cause the problem.....

hmmm.

Sounds like you need to upgrade the firmware of the actual P2 card.
I had similiar problems untill I done that.
I have the 8 gig cards and one was not the latest firmware, and it would do partial transfers, then lock up the P2 store.

Since upgrading, I have not had that problem.

How do you do that? Upgrade the firmware I mean?

Yes.....how do you upgrade the firmware on a p2 card?

First you check the firmware version using the P2 card manager, with the P2 card plugged into your pcmcia card slot.
Then compare it to the latest version on the panasonic website.

Then download the firmware with the card plugged into your pcmcia card slot, and run the executable file.

I believe the firmware version for the 8 gig card is a file called P2firmUp0602.exe
for version 0102

I think the 4 gig cards are have even more revisions.

Green Hornet,

Can you post the link you have for that firmware page - I ended up on a Canadian page which indicated that my cards were both okay.

if you don't manually set a logging bin (even in 5.0.4) you can get this error--at least i do....create bin, set it as logging, then import.

The firmware is 0101 for the 4 gig, and 0102 for the 8 gig.
It was updated March 15th.

if you pulled it out while it's writing ot the card, manual says that the data gets destroyed... but you probably already know that.. if you can still see your clips in your camera, you may be able to repair them... I noticed a feature in the menue of the camera called repair or restore clip... go check it out. if you can't see any thumbnails then, you might really be screwed :-(

this is something I don't like hearing about.
