HELP with DVX100A AUTO settings

Hello.

Over the weekend I shoot a Docu. and aftetr changing settings on my camera
for the speciifc shoot , I needed to quickly change to automatic Mode.

So I used AUTO button on the camera, however, it did not appear that the camera settings went back to Automatic.

For one thing the "AUTO" text did not appear on the display panel of the view finder. I tried the AUTO button again and nothing?

Has anyone seen this?

I have never seen AUTO displayed on the viewfinder?

What am I doing wriong?
