Well I went down to Abel Cine on Tuesday, and Jerrod is a really great guy and a nice salesmen. I plan on buying from them soon, after I sell my XL2 on ebay (LOL) Anyways I also had a technical question, I am doing a project this summer and will unfortunately not be able to use FCP until my project is over, so right now im stuck with Premiere Pro 2.0. So im using a desktop and if i buy a P2 card with the cam, how do i import without pcmcia? do i just put the p2 in the camera, and use a firewire? Also does anyone know how well adobe premiere pro 2 works with the HVX? Thanks for any help!

Premiere Pro doesn't work with the HVX at all unless you go to www.dvfilm.com (http://www.dvfilm.com) and buy their Raylight plug-in. With raylight, you can convert the HVX footage into files that Premiere Pro can work with.

I was there on tuesday and you're right, Jerrod is totally cool. I had him show me the panther multi mount and the husky dolly. I called in and wanted to buy the mount but wanted a demo. When I walk in, I see an HVX with a vocas matte box and chrosziel follow focus, bebob foxi focus control and zoe zoom control, sitting on a panther multi mount, while clinging on the side of a glass display case. My eyes bulged out.

I was told by creativevideo that Premiere Pro 2.0 will work with the HVX?

Nope. I'm a Premiere user, too. I bought Avid to tide me over until Premiere gets it together, secretly thinking I might decide to stay with Avid. Avid won't install on my current system. Don't get me started about that experience!

I'm very happy to hear that the new Raylight is faster. Maybe that will be the ultimate Premiere solution untill Premiere has it's own.

Main Concept is developing a DVCPRO HD codec, but I don't know if it will work with the raw footage from the camera.

I know that Cineform is working on a solution but it might be taking uncompressed componant out and creating a 1080p HDV file that Premiere can edit. I'm really impressed with what Cineform does with the JVC uncompressed stuff. There are movies being shot today using the JVC and Imax used a special form of Cineform to make a 3d movie. Very cool stuff coming from those guys.
