I have a p2 store on oreder. I finally got my p2 cards last week and they download to my powerbook easy.. My question is does anyone here actually have a p2 store and if so can you give me some feed back on how it works and is it worth it.. I am considering pretty hard about just cancelling the p2 store and using my laptop?

Any feed back would be great.

ps after 3 months waiting on the card it rocks. I do not look forward to doing a tape shoot again and the footage is awesome.

I use both; shooting into a laptop is great in some situations but other times, in more hostile environments, it is better offloading into P2store. I think it is an awesome tool desppite the lack of documentation for mac users in ther manual and on the support site. should actually be called the no support site.

I love my P2 Store. I was going to sell it and use a laptop instead UNTIL this past weekend. I did a shoot with a wet environment where I was walking around and on the run the whole time. I put the P2 Store in the front pocket of my sweatshirt, and it was awesome. I couldn't have survived with a latop only. That was the defining moment for me... A laptop can do things that a P2 Store can't. But, a P2 Store can do things a laptop can't too. I now officially love my P2 Store.

This is why I need a P2 store, there's some situations that I shoot in that I simply couldn't carry a lap top around in.

How big is the P2 store, I had no idea you could fit it in your pocket!

I don't have it in front of me...But...it is about 2 inches thick, 4 inches wide, and 10 inches long. So it is kinda long. It fit perfectly, like I said, in my front pocket of my sweatshirt. It was one of those long two handed pockets (you know the type that is on a hoody sweatshirt). I would think you could fit in in your front pocket of the right pair of pants too, but part of it will be sticking out of your pants, unless you have DEEP pockets. I bet is is very doable though. Also, there are little rubber pegs on the bottom of the P2 Store. It makes the P2 Store sit about a half a centimeter off of the floor or table, or whatever you set it on. This past weekend while shooting, before I started puttng the P2 Store in my pocket, I was actually putting it on a wet surface. Thanks to those little rubber pegs, the actual body of the P2 Store didn't get wet.

Does anyone dump from a P2 Store to an External Hard drive via a Mac, and If so, what size/type drive do you use? Are there any problems or concersn with this system that I should know about?

The P2 Store doesn't have a host mode like the HVX200. So you can't directly dump the files to an external drive. The only way to do this is to hook up the P2 Store and an External Hard drive to a laptop. And if you are going to do that, then you might as well skip the P2 Store, and just download the files straight to the laptop via the PCMCIA slot.
