Hi,

I am thinking of buying an "Firestore FS4 Hard Disk (40 GB)" off a friend. Will I be able to connect this unit directly to the HVX's firewire connector and record directly to it, without P2 or DV tapes?

It will work, but only for recording DV. For DVCPRO50 or HD, you need the new FS-100

I just used the FS-4 with my HVX for a wedding this weekend and it worked beautifully. Cam-Ra is correct, though. It can only be used with DV/DVCPRO 25 codec.
