Yeah I know this is dvxuser, but I also know there are some people here who don't (yet) have a DVX camera and are using others.

In my case, I'm using a GL-2 (58MM filter threads) and would like to throw together a 35MM adapter. I will probably end up buying one, but I'd like to build one myself to learn, as well as to have the flexibility to try different things to get the look that I want.

I'm thinking that the easiest way would be to do something like this

Using empty filter rings as spacers to get the distances right instead of PVC or some other fabricated tube.

Couple of things have got me wondering....

My filter threads are 58MM, should I even bother stepping everything down to 55, then back up to 58 for the lens mount?

In the photo above, they are using a Minolta lens/mount. Is a Nikon or Canon lens mount the same (58mm) diameter? I'm thinking I could mount different lens mounts to different filter rings and be able to use both brands of lenses (i have canon and nikon lenses).

Any info is greatly appreciated, my apologies if any of this has been addressed previously. I've done a lot of searching and reading but haven't found my answers yet.
