Ok. So I have a 35mm adapter being made. I have a canon F1.8 50mm lens and a canon 17-40mm L 4.0. How will the slower lens work with the adapter? Is it just a question of pouring more light onto the subject or will it just not work. Do you guys all use F1.4 lenses or would 1.8 work?

I've read all the threads on these things. Just couldnt find info about F4.0 lenses. Anyhow. THANKS!

Are your guys' adapters EF or FD?

Any lens will *should* work with your adapter- that is as long as the mount is the same as the lens. (You can't use a nikkon mount and a canon lens.) The rating of the lens is how fast or slow it is, the faster the lens (smaller number), the less light you need to get a good exposure- and vise versa. So if you have a slower lens, you will just need to have more light and you will be fine.

The trouble with zoom 35mm lenses is that they are slower and only in the very expensive zooms with you get something like 1.4 or 1.8. The other problem with zooms is that they are often longer in length than a 50mm and who wants to add even more length onto the adapter.

So......yes 1.8 will work but ideally you want the fastest you can get and without spending a fortune on a 1.2 .......a 1.4 is very good!

so i was wondering as well, if 1.4 is the better f-stop (obviosly) since you really need to blast the lights with these adapters, if iw as getting a letus , and w. nikon mount, and i wanted to use a Nikon AF Nikkor 24-85mm f2.8-4 D lets, that 2.8 f-stop would that be really difficlt to light, or is that it's 2.8, plus the adapter takes it down probably an f-stop or two....am i making sense? lol

and whats the difference between a macro and non macro lens? sorry if this has been covered before but i thought i could ask real quick since you guys sound knowledgable
