We just ordered two 42" plazma screens at work. We set up a major show with two of them on stage mostly for looks or decor. When we set shows the night before we test all the gear and cable runs, make sure it's bulletproof, then perform a ritual called stiking all the theftables. Plazma screens, laptops, sure 58's, laptops, wireless mic's and all projectors (unless flown on truss line) are removed from the ballroom. Now I was just getting ready to place these two new Plazma screens on a trusty cart intending to lay them on their backs when one of my bosses races over to me and starts reading me the riot act about how plazma screens can never be in any position other that at a 90% angle to the floor. Fine says I, new info, glad ya told me, now chill! He chilled and the gear was stowed overnight in its prefered position relative to the floor. When we struck the show next day, we packed the plazmas back in their cardboard containers on account of the roadcases are not here yet. After they're all squared away, I examine the cardboard cases for some indication that certain death will occur if these things are not stored correctly. I only found a small graphic on the side of the case, easily missed by any shipping company, which sets me to thinking that these babies could ride flat, but it MAY do some damage so best they be shipped, stored at a 90% to the floor angle. Anybody know what the real, whole truth is? Yes I could google it, but you guys are way more fun and interactive.
