I posted in the "Some Composers" thread, too, but that was pages and pages back. I hope it's okay to post again.

Some recent highlights:

Norm, I've gotta thank you for getting all of these composers on the board. It seems all of them are tied back to you somehow. I just saw your testimonial on sbkp's site.

Welcome to the boards man. What sample sets are you working with? Chris hein horns? EWQL Gold? EWQL Strings? Whatever it is, it sounds really good! I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a few people on the board willing to hand their projects over to you.

dj200423,

Thanks very much. Norm found me on VI-Control, and he really liked my piece "Fire and Ice." I liked his mini-review so much, I put it on my website. That's the extent of our affiliation (at this point....;)).

Mostly I use EWQLSO Platinum Pro XP. There's a French Horn in "Fire and Ice" that is from the K2 mini-VSL. And the cello in the intro of "Reforged" is real.

Thanks again!

what makes the really creepy high pitched sound in middle of reforged?

That's just my cat.

Actually, it's something called a "Waterphone." Here's a little about those: http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om33000.html

Thanks for listening.

Also, my apologies if anyone has had trouble checking out my site the last few days. My domain registrar got hit by a DDoS attack, and all their clients lost their name servers. I've switched now, and should be back online to stay.

Best,
Stefan

I always wondered how that sound was produced. I'm pretty sure that's the same way all of the glistening sword sounds were used in 'Hero'... can anyone confirm that? Cool stuff.

You can also use a violin bow on crotales for a similar effect. The beginning and end of "Fire and Ice" uses that sound.

Thanks, all, for the props. If anyone is interested in a score for their Hero-Fest entry, it would be good to get me soon, as my April is filling up.

Best,
Stefan

good, cause i was poking my cat with a stick for about an hour and he didn't make any sound that was close to the waterphone ...

LOL!!

I will say that with the interaction I've had with Stefan, he's a quality composer/artist, as many of the folks that have come over to DVXuser (from vi-control, etc.) are.

He's VERY detailed, and asks the right questions up front to make sure that he knows what you want ... not just what HE wants to deliver.

I will be working with him some day soon, I'm positive of it.

Thanks, Norm, but you still can't poke my cat with a stick...
