Hello not sure if this is where to post this question but here it goes...

I have just Digitized about 25 minutes of Super8 film that was shot 18fps.

Here is the set-up for doing this:

- Optical Printer
A super8/16mm projector set to advance 1 frame at a time controlled by a mac
A Canon GL1 video camera connected to Mac via firewire

So the image is projected into the GL1, advanced a frame at a time, and captured onto the mac through a capture program.

Now the final file spit out is a Quicktime file but when played back it is at 29.97fps.

You with me here?

So it looks fast because it is playing back at 29.97fps NOT 18fps. My question is, is there a way to conform this to something? Since I need to sync the audio that was taken off the Super8 to this video file what should I do? I'm pretty much stuck at this point.

Thanks for any help. or if you need more clarification, ask me.

can you figure out how much % you would need to slow down the clip so It would play at 18fps or look like it. Then just slow it down and drop the audio under it.

THanks for the reply. Your answer sounds like a lot of trial and error and seems like the best way to go. Luckily there is only a few spots that have audio. I was just wondering if there was a way to do this using CinemaTools but I guess that program only deals with 24pa/24fps material. Anyone else care to comment on this?

Thanks a bunch again! :costumed-smiley-047

Well You might be albe to find the a callulator to figure it out but it should be a simple as 29.97 = 100% 29.97-18.00 = 11.97 so now what is 11.97 % 14/15fps = 50% os you know it is higher then that. So maybe 70 75% I would start there. Sorry I just am not that good at math or have the time to figure it out for you I hope this helps. As for Cinema Tools. I don't know that is a good question I'll have to play around with it.

WoW! didn't expect you to go over the math for this. That is better math than what I could have come up with on my own. I would have started by researching other people's methods for calculating speed. Very cool of you to explain this for me. That is way more than what I expected! I will start at what you suggest according to the math and see what kind of results i get. Again, Thanks.
