As am I looking at new G5's this keeps coming up. Is ECC ram worth the extra money? What exactly does it do?

ECC is error-correcting RAM. Supposed to be able to spot problems in itself and prevent them from crashing the system. I haven't read anything that makes it seem worth the investment yet. For one thing, all your RAM would have to be ECC or it won't work - so you'd have to ditch what you have and replace it with ECC.
People say to wait until the next revision of it - probably with the Intel tower Macs due later this year.

People say that it only corrects minor errors, and makes the system 2% slower. It doesn't seem worth the extra money at this point.
