hi,
i am hoping to shoot some scenes tomorrow and use motion tracking in AE afterwords, so what would be the best way to setup these scenes so i get the most sucess in after effects? i am not going to be using greenscreen, its a real live set.
thanks!

Well, it depends on the shot. It would be wise to have tracking markers, something bright that it the opposite color of what it's around. This should help a lot.

I have a question on motion tracking...
Lets say you have a box with 2 markers on them and you wanted to text to track the boxes movements.
When you put it in AE...and go to the tracker...it only lets you track one point because it creates only one of those target selector.
Is it possible to have more than one target selector on one track tracking the same object for the above track?
Have 2 target selectors track the two different markers which then makes key frames for the text?
Or you can only have one?

It'd be worth a try. Select a point and try holding down shift and selecting another. That's how it SHOULD work, if it were to allow that.

With one tracker, you get position, with two you can get position, rotation and scale.. for 3/4 you can get position, rotation, scale and orientation.
If you're going to be putting a screen on a tv, or laptop or replacing the face of
a box like feature, you need a minimum of three tracks. Cheaper software require
4.
If the TV/laptop thing is what you're doing, you're going to want a minimum of
four tracking areas. I'd do em in the corners, on a piece of matte paper in a
keyable color... ideally nice and blue/green screen saturation. I'd put contrasting
tracking markers of crosses made from colored paper tape. See, a cross leaves you
with 13 trackable points for each marker. 4 crosses, plus one in the middle and
now you've got at least 52 points w/o even going to the tv frame itself. You can
track points, then average them together to filter out tracking and DV errors.

Also, if you have an extra $400 you can buy a special version of boujou bullet from Pixel Corps. It's a Pixel Corps version, but I think it's very close to boujou bullet, which runs 2. I downloaded the bullet demo and it makes tracking so much easier than AE.

That is because your motion tracker is setup for position only. You have more than one option within the tracker, position, positionand rotation, stabalization, and corner pinning (which may not be directly under the tracker, but I think it's around there, have to check)
Yes, it is possible to have more than one target selector on one track, but you need to know what you are wanting to know what to accomplish before you know how many trackers you will need. for the situation you described, two could work (one for position and one for rotation), but four would be best to set up corner pinning: position, rotation, perspective.
Tracking anything creates keyframes, but it is up to you to decide what they will affect. It can be text, a roadsign graphic element, a graphic element for background removal (telephone poles, power lines), or even something like an effect you want in a particular place, say an enhanced glow on taillights.
tracking will be easier if you always see the markers
