Here is a small test for a logo animation I am working on. This is rough but will be reworked later on. I made the logo in 3d, and of course some shine abuse. Let me know what you think.

Still trying to download. This 56k is killing me. Been trying for two days, and the computer keeps crashing halfway though. I'll Keep trying.

Woohoo! finally got the zorro on to go through. very cool. I can almost imagine the slicing metal on metal sounds. Very cool build. The color of the light really goes with the metal.

How did you get the letters to reveal themselves? Masks? Animated Stroke for a Track Matte?

Double woo hoo, got the second one.

I like the smoothness of the logos on that and the fact that the light moves in 3D with it. I think the first one is more appealing, cause the symbols are kinda raw, like it's being formed by slicing somethiing with an energy source.

good stuff.

Do you live out in the woods or something? I feel bad for you. You contribute so much to the forums, and have to do it with a 56k modem. Thats harsh.

Wow man, would I be out of line to request tutorials how to do either of those?

Thanks guys,

Rapier, I did it using a mask. Now that I think about it a Matte would have probably been better. Dj, no you wouldn't be out of line to ask for a tutorial. I could write one, but I am not AE savvy. The way I went about it was probably not the best way, I don't know. On the other hand it worked so I am sure I can have a decent tutorial up for you in a day or two.

Great animations Ghostface!

-- I'm trying to teach myself AE, as well -- so seeing your work is inspirational -- looking forward to a tutorial.

No, it looks great and it works so you went about it the right way. Very nice!

I think your willingness to share with us how you did this is much more admirable than whether you might have done it the same way an AE “expert” might have. :dankk2:

I have not tried it yet, which would be the true test of the tutorial, but I read through it. Your tutorial appears to be as well done as your animation, nice work and thanks very much for sharing.

What did you do for the 3d rotation one? Was that an actual model that you just imported or what?

GhostFace

The rotation logo is a 3d model I rendered the animation out in Lightwave. After that I brought it in to AE for some tweaking and the shine effect.

Neat, that's what I suspected. Thanks again for posting the tutorial!

I use combustion frequently and own after effects and dont really use it. So now im trying to learn and what I am trying to ask is how do you do the glimer or flash in after effects? i looked at the tutorial but I dont see how its done unless im just over looking it.

I am trying to figure out how you did the light. Is that Shine/Combustion? (Meaning the light spilling through the "zorro Kinda" one)

<==AE Noob as well

The light is a plugin made by trapecode (http://www.trapcode.com/.), it is called Shine. It is really easy to use.

Oh man, yeah go for it! The name is Itchy House Films.

I won't taint your creative though process with my ideas because everything that I could come up with has been no good. lol
