I currently am using Final Cut Express HD, and am upgrading to Final Cut Studio. I also use Avid Xpress Pro.
I currently also have a 250Gig LaCie Hard Drive. It has trouble with short clips that are cut together when I edit, and I am not that happy with it overall.
I am buying another hard drive, around 250-350 Gig. I wanted to know what people recommend for video editing.
My first choice right now is either a G-Raid or G-Drive. Is a G-Raid really that much faster?

I posted this in your other thread, but here's the link anyway...

I like this because you have the option of hot swappable drives, and SATA II.

In my job as a Mac tech, I have seen LaCie have a quality-control problem with their hard drives for the past couple years. Lots of failures, mostly with the power supplies not being up to snuff and killing the drives.
I would be very wary about buying anything by them right now.
External SATA is the way to go if you can afford it, but check out

and look at the Firmtek enclosures and Seritek PCI cards - they offer bundles that include enclosures and cards. The Firmtek enclosures allow you to directly interface each drive to the computer - most other enclosures link the drives internally and have 1 connection to the computer, which is slower.
For an explanation of why to go external SATA, check out:

Man.. that is exactly the same conclusion I came to today. I want one. I'm tired of Lacie Drives. I'm tired of thinking of offloading. This offers a bunch of options with the purchase of a few additional drive adapters this would be sweet and get me out of my bad habit of leaving stuff on drives for years and years.
Anyone else with any experience and reviews of this set-up? What type of raid would be possible with this?
Any other options out there... ?
