I'm sure that I'm not the only one who bought the HVX in part because it would (probably) do nice looking SD. I shot this last night, compressed to two resolutions:

http://www.popw.com/video/dv25cats640.mov

I know it's nothing spectacular, but with just a Vidled, I'm so pleased at how nice it looks. Obviously it needs tweaking and such, but I'm pleased at how well 480/30p compresses. I've never had the fortune of having a camera that would shoot progressive, and I've spent a ton of time doing video for the Web the last few years. Deinterlacing is always a harmful process, even with the best software.

good lucking footage, pretty cat. I know very little about compression so I can't help you there, but I know a pretty cat when I see one.

Which temperature Vidled did you use? Looks good...maybe a little blue? daylight?

Jeffy.. How do you like the vidled... I'm hoping to get one soon. I was thinking of getting the daylight as it's brighter and I do the same with my kinos. The daylight bulbs are so much brighter and I then just gel accordingly.

Good looking stuff too bro.

That looks better than a DVX.

I've seen block noise in the wall near to the cat (whe the cat hides itself behind window curtain). Is it given by compression (h.264) or can you see block noise in the original footage too? Considering it's dv25 format I'm pretty scared about it.

Thanks:)

Hey there. The dayLED is actually NOT the brightest one; we need to update the specs page...will do this tonight. Those figures show the specs for a dayLED that has a SPOT beam, hence the higher end LUX.
The leds we sell currently are all wideangle, and their brightness goes like this (from low to high): warmLED, dayLED, coolLED. It is the coolLED that is the brightest, and that is about 8000K.

Lovely cat!!!
Footage looks nice, but I agree: it's a little on the blueish tone. I reckon a white balance on that wall will work well, and make this much more color-correct.

With all this nice HVX footage being shown, I REALLY need to put a HVX on myshopping list also! :)

Hard to ever stop being a producer. Asking for stuff.. expecting the Earth. I was destined to be either a producer or a used car salesman...

No worries, mate!
