Anyone who owns both want to do a side-by-side test? Perhaps do the same edit on both and time how long it takes to render? Or do a preview, and see how many FPS you get with each?
I've heard from many people that Edius is much, much faster, but I'm curious just how much faster :)

Playback speed wise, Edius is much faster. But consider that Raylight does things Edius doesn't, too -- you can use Raylight to view files in After Effects or Premiere or Vegas or all sorts of places, whereas Edius only lets you work with the files in Edius.

Edius smokes raylight
. . .. because Edius natively sees the MXF format and Raylight does not ? I would assume but are the same speed on the same computer.. . .

Thats the main reason I am not switching yet. I use AfterEffects quite a bit, and the new Adobe Dynamic Link makes Premiere Pro a sexy option. (Did I just day PP was sexy? yikes). Anyways, the Automatic Duck import plugins don't support Edius to AE yet (maybe they never will), so the Edius to AE and back to Edius workflow is kinda time-consuming and storage comsuming now that we are working with higher HD resolutions (who wants to render the same clip 3 times?). But, if MXF support in the upcoming upgrade to Premiere isn't adequate, it looks like I might have to make the switch to Edius, because the performance seems to be great (from what I've seen in the demo).

Barry have you tried Ray Light files in edius? I wonder if there is a performance hit...
when After Effects has support for mxf the situation should be mute...

Until then, I am using the demo of Raylight. I noticed the levels do not match the P2 viewer or anything I have rendered from FCP??

Also, . . . Marcus (of DVFILM.com. . Raylight) says between Premiere Pro and Vegas (utilizing Raylight), Vegas is much quicker. .. .
