Camera Flash and Photo

The effect I want is this:

You are looking the camera, there is a flash (as if a photo has been taken) and then the image is frozen on the screen.

Any suggestions for the easiest way to do this "flash" in FCP?

You could try a white solid (generator -- color matte) overtop and do a opacity shift into it...

Maybe try changing the composite mode so it blows out the footage rather than just fades to white.

Also -- I've got a vaper-across that might work for this too... I'll check when I get home.

i've used the white frame and 6 frame dissolve alot in the past. works well enough with good camera "poof/shutter" sound fx. but now i use some footage i shot of a small halogen light bulb and key frame an overexposure with a plugin from digital film tools.
