Hey guys,

I've been looking all around the internet for good costume links. Boots, gloves, eye masks, capes, all of the above.

I found a good site for a spandex unitard. Good places to start.
www.spandexman.com (http://www.spandexman.com)

I'm looking to create a typical hero costume, but am not sure where to get an eyemask like Robins in batman. I would be nice to get a latex one we could glue on, but don't know anyplace that makes them.

Has anyone else ran across some helpful costume links? Even if we were to make them ourselves?

hurmmm... if this wasn't a 'superhero' topic... this site would be just 'wrong' in every aspects. OTherwise... lets make this guy some money. :)

you can use liquid latex and paint the mask on and reuse it. You can buy it in all colors too. You could even paint his whole costume on.

Hey! I got a sticky!

Yay. I think the biggest problem will be finding some actor who will wear the costumes. I might look odd if I starting looking around at local gyms asking guys "How do you look in spandex? Ever wan't to be an actor?"

Just when I thought my day couldn't get any more bizarre... Holy Lycra Man Bulge, Batman. From now on I'm going to be way more careful about what I click on. You've taken my innocence, I hope your happy.

Anyone else just see someone that has that "look" ... like you'd love to cast them in anything you do in the future. So the moment you approach them & talk about fliming, they immediately wonder if you produce porn? Does this only happen to me?

Also, if I ever say I make movies, everyone thinks they're the first funny schmuck to question if it's porn. Right up there with people yellling "Norm!" when I walk into a room.

So now I have another idea. Take this and put the spandex over it, I wonder if it'll work to give a hero a little more....heft. Should also smooth out those beautiful beer guts and love handles most people seem to carry.

That would work. I saw those costumes on a site as well. Also, if you put skin tone spandex over it, you might get a buff look for shirtless scenes. :cheesy:

If you've got someone who can pull off this spandex stuff, I say forget it and go for neoprene or some similar wetsuit stuff. Can be more expensive, but I think the texture'll look better on film and it's a little less goofy, more sporty. Dunno about coloring, but you can probably use fabric spraypaint. Also, if you're having trouble with costumes, geeky anime kids often have extensive skills that can be exploited.

Most wetsuits are black, would the spray show up all that well, if it were....lets say....green?

I would even venture as far as trying to hit up a university's costume department. I'm sure there are some students there dying to get their creative hands in making a childhood dream uniform. Plus, They may have extra materials or whatever just laying around.

I know that wetsuits are very expensive plus I dunno if i could believe someone was actually a super hero, but rather a deep sea scuba diver or disgruntled employee from sea world.

Depends what kind, I'd suppose. My girlfriend thinks msot craft spraypaint would work.

the only downside to spraypaint is it doesn't breathe. It can actually sufficate your skin if directly sprayed on, i don't know if it would have the same affect on a wetsuit, but i'd be careful with that one. I learned that on Mythbusters.
