I just got my D200 this past week and I'm really happy with this cam. The control and image quality options are legion and the D200 has a fantastic build quality and weatherproofing. Considering how complex this camera is, the operation is amazingly intuitive. I've only had a few hours to walk around and shoot, but I'm really happy with the image quality and smooth workflow.

those look cool

this is the first time I've ever been in the still photograpy section

I know as much about still photography and still cams as our beagle

so I'll just say "those look cool" again and open the floor to others :cheesy:

Congrats Barry, and thanks for sharing the pix.
I'll admit, some of the bashing of the D200 has been a little excessive over the last month with regard to the banding issue, but it's always good to see someone putting it to good use and hushing all the naysers up.
BTW, which lens(es) are you using?
And where did you get yours from, B&H is backordered for like the next decade.

Thanks Jack.

Digi-- I've been shooting with my 35-70 f/2.8 and 20mm f/2.8 lenses mostly. I think I may buy the Tokina or Nikon 12-24 f/4 as a nice wide zoom. I snagged my cam from B&H because of a lucky tip off. They should be in stock everywhere very soon. I am seeing a slight amount of banding under extreme conditions at 100% magnification when viewed on a monitor, but it seems like a non-issue and doesn't show up in printing, so I'm not too concerned.

hey barry what made you choose the Nikon over other cams?

Main reason was I've got a lot of Nikon glass. Beyond that, it's got tremendous image quality, ergonomics, complete weatherproofing, and the menu options are enough to blow you away. The cherry on the top is the built in intervalometer. Can you say HD timelapse with no accessories? :)
